Scout Day at Pinecrest Village

April 27 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Manitowoc County Historical Society is proud to offer programming for scouts to earn badges, petals, loops, and patches. The programing for scouts typically fulfills a badge requirement, but additional activities outside of the program may be required. Museum admission is included in the price of the program.

Each hands-on workshop will take place during a morning and afternoon session. Scouts and their families are welcome to explore the museum following their program. Space is available for lunch at the Two Creeks Town Hall.

Space is limited.

Workshops will repeat for a morning and afternoon session-
Morning Session: 9 am to Noon
Afternoon Session: 1 to 4 pm

Class Options:

  • Boy Scout Metalworking Merit Badge (The ‘lab’ portion of the BSA Metalworking Merit Badge with the Blacksmithing option): Discover basic smithing skills such as forging, bending, curling, twisting and annealing. Scouts will make 2 projects – a spatula and steak flipper, which satisfies the BSA MB requirements. Maximum of 5 students per session.

  • Senior Girl Scout Badge: Textile Artist: When you see all the colors and textures of fabrics and yarns, do you dream up a million things to do with them? Get ready to turn those visions into reality as you meet with artists, learn about the world of textile arts, and make two projects in the craft that most inspires you to pick up your needles (or loom or spinning wheel). Maximum of 8 students per session.

  • Junior Girl Scout/ Cub Scout: Playing the Past: Explore what it was like to live in the past. You’ll learn how children of the past lived, worked, and played. You’ll also dress the part of the early 1900s and create your own toy to take home. Maximum of 20 students per session.

  • Girl Scout/Cub Scout: Wood stove cooking: Discover food traditions from the turn of the 20th century and help make food on the wood stove. You’ll learn about wood stove safety, how to read a recipe, and create a finished dish. Maximum of 8 students per session.

The cost is $30 per scout, per program. Each scout may bring one adult for complimentary admission.

When registering, please choose the class you would like to take part in, as well as the morning or afternoon session timeframe. Pre-registration is required so we can ensure there are enough supplies for every participant. Please note the museum does not provide badges.

Registration opens on February 1 for MCHS Members and February 15 for Non-Members.
