Program description:
Have you considered taking a DNA test or already taken one? In this session we will learn the basics of using DNA testing for genealogy, including what tests are available, what companies to test with, and what your results look like. We’ll also discuss what your next steps should be after getting your results so you can learn how to use your DNA to further your genealogy research!

Katie Stilp is the Local History Librarian at Appleton Public Library. She holds a master’s degree in library and information studies from UW-Madison and a bachelor’s degree in communication from UW-Green Bay. In her role at the library, she facilitates a yearly genealogy series with monthly presentations and assists researchers with using library resources. Katie has been an avid genealogy researcher since 2005 and has authored three books on the genealogy of her grandparents, with a fourth book in the works. She currently serves on the board of the Appleton Historical Society and as the secretary of the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society.
