Great Decisions, a project of the Foreign Policy Association, is a grassroots world affairs education program which brings together Americans from across the nation to discover and discuss foreign policy issues. Over the course of eight weeks, scholars will introduce each issue, and participants may explore their own views and those of the group.
Having spent a couple of weeks looking at the sobering reality of the situation playing out in the Middle east of the course of the last two weeks, we’re moving on to a completely different arena of concern. On Monday, February 26, from 6-8 PM, we’ll be examining “Science and AI” with Matthew Friedel, PhD, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
PLEASE NOTE: Great Decisions 2024 will be presented in a hybrid format—offered in-person in MPL’s Balkansky Community Room, as well as livestreamed simultaneously online on both our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/manitowoclibrary) and YouTube channel (unless otherwise indicated).
Science and AI: Scientific advances benefit from collaboration between researchers, but what happens when material, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) is controversial and important to a nation’s national security? Is there a middle ground between sharing information and denying access? How can we regulate cooperation?
