Capitol Community Chorale, Good Tidings We Bring

The foundation of Christmas choral music—likely due to the British Boy Choir tradition is British—and the Capitol Community Chorale will deliver this holiday tradition with “Good Tidings We Bring.” British carols “In the Bleak Midwinter” (arranged by Chorale member Larry Theis), “Sussex Carol,” “Wexford Carol,” and a Polish Carol, “Infant Holy, Infant Lowly” will be performed.

Also featured will be four Robert Shaw arrangements of familiar Christmas carols: “Good Christian Men, Rejoice,” “Silent Night,” “Pat-a-Pan,” and “O Come All ye Faithful.” In addition, concertgoers will enjoy seven John Rutter compositions. The piano accompaniment will be by Marilynn Dunlap.

The small ensemble of seven-member Bella Voce will be performing the popular Spanish Carol, “Riu Riu Chiu.”

In addition to composers John Rutter and Robert Shaw, the concert will include a charming arrangement of a familiar Mozart melody set to the words of “Deck the Halls.” Also, the popular Alfred Burt song

“Caroling, Caroling,” and an African song, translated “We Have Come to Sing”—inspired by a tune from Nairobi, Kenya—will be performance highlights.

The final song of the concert “Noel Sing We Here!” will feature “four hands on the keyboard” by Marilynn Dunlap and Jim Miller.

Take in the sounds of the season, with the Capitol Community Chorale, featured soloists, quartets, and percussion and guitar accompaniment in this concert narrated by Bill Hansen.
