Author Caitlin Nicolai will share and sign her interactive books at LaDeDa Books, 1624 New York Ave., Friday, November 18, 3:30-5:00. What makes Nicolai’s books unique is that they have no pictures.  Each page has room for readers to illustrate the story themselves.  This makes a perfect activity for young readers and their reading pals  — be it mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, a baby sitter, or the family puppy.

In a fresh spin on the traditional gingerbread man story, The Gingerbread Man in Your Hometown, everyone thinks the title character has been eaten by the fox.  He wasn’t.  He escaped.  And now he’s in the reader’s hometown and needs help to get back to a happy place.

Santa’s Workshop – But Where is Santa? finds Jolly the elf hard at work as head of the North Pole’s toy operation.  He takes time from his job to give readers a tour of the North Pole, but since it is summertime, not everything will be as expected.

Children attending the event will work with the author to illustrate a page from one of her books.
