Great restaurants to visit this winter
Stay warm and stay full this winter when you head to Manitowoc and Two Rivers—the area is home to outstanding restaurants that will please any appetite, whether you’re looking for a classic Wisconsin fish fry, a heaping helping of pasta, or anything in between. Here’s a few eateries you shouldn’t miss this winter.

For a Friday fish fry: The Fat Seagull
A Manitowoc landmark, The Fat Seagull is well-known for its Friday night fish fry. Diners can choose from single or double portions of perch, walleye, butterfly shrimp, or stuffed shrimp. The Fat Seagull also has other seafood offerings like fish and shrimp tacos and haddock or perch sandwiches and serves up wraps, sandwiches, and soups, too. It’s also got more than a dozen craft beers on tap, including local offerings from Petskull Brewery.
For a quick meal: Maretti’s Deli
Need to grab something to go? Head to Maretti’s Deli in downtown Manitowoc for a made-to-order deli sandwich—they’ve got everything from Italian specialties like capicola and spicy Sicilian to favorites like chicken salad, turkey, and roast beef. Maretti’s also serves homemade soups, salads, pasta dishes, and pizza. Don’t forget to grab a tasty deli salad to have as a side dish, too!
For a big burger or sandwich: BRIX
A popular spot for burgers among residents and visitors alike, BRIX is located in a beautifully renovated 1894 building and serves up a menu filled with locally sourced ingredients for lunch and dinner six days a week. Can’t-miss menu items include the Brix and Mortar (a third-pound burger smothered with BRIX bourbon cheese dip and haystack onions and the Steak Bomb (a marinated steak sandwich with pepperjack cheese, onion, jalapenos, banana peppers, and BRIX cheese sauce)
For a bite and a beer: Petskull Brewing Company
Petskull Brewing Company in downtown Manitowoc’s River Point District is a local favorite for its wide variety of craft beers (visitors will find everything from milk stouts to fruited sours to IPAs), but it also serves up some delicious food in its beer hall, including a one-pound pretzel, chicken nachos, and baked shishito peppers.
For filling comfort food: Luigi’s Italian Restaurant
Bring the whole crew—and your appetite—to Luigi’s Italian Restaurant, a family-owned eatery that’s been serving up Sicilian classics for more than 30 years in Manitowoc. Enjoy a full pasta dinner with your noodle and sauce of choice, try one of Luigi’s specialty pastas (like portobello ravioli or stuffed shells), or order a homemade pizza (available in traditional, pan, and Chicago styles).
