Ice Age Trail Hike
A guided hike provided by the Lakeshore Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance. Traverse the north end of Point Beach State Forest and into the School Forest.
A six-mile round trip. Shuttle available for those who wish to hike one direction only.
Meet at the parking lot across County Road O from Park Road.
The Hike
We will hike from the Red Pine parking lot north on the Red Pine trail, and then continue north to County Highway V. There will be an option to hike even further north to check out the Rahr Memorial School Forest. The School Forest includes a 0.3 mile curving boardwalk that crosses a swamp / wetland full of trees, wildflowers, frogs, turtles, ducks, and other wildlife.
Event Details
The hike is 2.0 miles one way to County Highway V, with another mile through the School Forest to Lake Shore Rd. The total hike will be 6.0 miles round trip including the School Forest, or 4.0 miles without.
A shuttle can be provided for those who want to hike only one direction. Dogs on a leash are welcome.
Location Details
Meet at the Red Pine parking lot across County Highway O from the Park Road heading to the State Forest Entrance Station.
