Words in Wood Letterpress Mini Workshop
What words would you want to wake up and see as you start your day?
What quote is resonating with you at this particular moment in time?
Whether a favorite quote, catch-phrase or mantra, print your inspiring thoughts on paper using Hamilton’s vast collection of wood type and images.
In this workshop taught by Julie Chen, e bond, and Sharon Jue—Hamilton’s BIWOC (Black, Indigenous, Women of Color) Artists-in-Residence—students will create their own unique letterpress print along with the option to create a Turkish map fold artist book from their print.
This event is part of our BIWOC 2024 summit at the museum. Our Artists-in-Residence Julie Chen, e bond, and Sharon Jue will be on site for two weeks to print, offer a workshop and on-site gallery talk. This residency in our letterpress printing studio is being done to help empower marginalized voices and actively engage individuals from diverse backgrounds through demonstrations and workshops.
