Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. on June 19, 1865 soilders landed in Galveston Texas and announced the end of the civil war and the end of slavery two years after President Lincoln’s signing of the Emancipation Proclimation. Juneteenth is the African American’s celebration of freedom and independance. We would like to have this event to bring awareness and importance of our culture to the Manitowoc Community.
