Saturday Learning Series: From the Emerald Isles to Our Inland Seas

March 19, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Please join us Saturday, March 19 at 1:00PM for our FREE Saturday Learning Series event, “From the Emerald Isles to our Inland Seas: Maritime Archaeology off the West Coast of Ireland to the Bottom of Lake Michigan.”
Ireland’s maritime landscape is famed for its rugged beauty and charming coastal communities. Countless generations of mariners have braved these emerald seas to fish, trade, and even transport people vast distances across the Atlantic Ocean. Many of these Irish immigrants began arriving in Wisconsin in the 1840s as they sought relief from the Great Famine.
As an immigrant of Ireland himself, Kevin Cullen, WMM’s Deputy Director and Chief Curator, will share his intimate knowledge of Ireland’s rich maritime heritage and how it relates to Wisconsin’s own nautical past.
This will be a FREE hybrid event. You may either attend in-person at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, or tune in to a live feed online.
