Kinship Patterns Gallery Reception
March 23 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pmFree
Join us from 5-7 pm on March 23 for the closing gallery reception of ‘Kinship Patterns’. This exhibit features prints and an installation that were created using vintage wood and metal type and hand-carved blocks on 100-year-old-presses at the museum by Stephanie Carpenter. This event is free and open to the public and will have light refreshments.
Kinship is the web of social relationships that we form in our lives. There are many ways that we build community and this network can include both family and social connections. This act of tying yourself to others creates a sense of belonging and fellowship. There are many ways to look at these connections and through that exploration patterns and kin groups arise. In her work Stephanie examines the way we create our own unique communities.
