JOY – by Kaye Solander
Kaye Solander is a junior Studio Art major. Her pieces of artwork were inspired after the first three joyful mysteries. The joyful mysteries reflect on joyous times throughout the life of Jesus Christ. The first joyful mystery is the Annunciation. In the Annunciation Mary is told by the angel Gabriel that she would conceive Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. The second joyful mystery is the Visitation. In the Visitation Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth. The third joyful mystery is the Nativity. The nativity is a mystery centered on the birth of Jesus Christ. Her goal was to capture pieces of these mysteries from the conception of Jesus to his birth and bring them to life in her artwork. She hopes that each piece of work helps convey a little joy of the Christmas season and also, as each of us contemplates the joyful mysteries we can each find a place in our heart to let joy and peace dwell both in this special season and always.
