Writers Robet Lentz, Robert Forster, and Ted Rulseh will visit LaDeDa Books, Saturday, April 20, 10:30-12:00 for casual conversation and book signing as part of the store’s Independent Bookstore Day celebration.

Of Loving April – A Fathers Story Robert Lentz says “Never could I have imagined the roller coaster ride my life would be with the birth of my daughter, Amber.”  Born with a mild case of spina bifida, she was learning to overcome the obstacles of that condition when she became severely brain damaged by an unrelated outbreak of hemolytic uremic syndrome.  That diagnosis changed the Lentz’s life forever.  This is a strong story of how love can sustain people even in the most challenging of times.

Robert L. Forster spent time in a small town on the Honduras’ boarder as a Peade Corps volunteer. It was there that he met his wife, Mariantonia, after whom he titled his first book.  He continued his service work with migrant farmworkers in Wisconsin, and both Robert and Mariantonia work as translators for the police department.

In his second book, Letters from the CBI, Forster shares many of the hundreds of letters written by his father while deployed to the China-Burna-India Theare during World War II. The letters convey his suffering, sacrifice and dedication in the face of danger.

Ted Rulseh currently lives on birch Lake in Oneida County, but many will remember him from his years in the Lakeshore along with the nature column he wrote for the Herald Times Reporter.  Rulseh’ s latest essay collection, You should Been Here Last Week, hooks readers with angling tales – both the joys and the failures.  Father-son relationships, and marital skirmishes about keeping bait in the refrigerator are just two of the fishy tales he shares.

Independent Bookstore Day is sponsored by the American Booksellers Association.  Four local bookstores, Black Heart Books, LaDeDa Books, The Nook, and Paper Crane Bookstore have together created events throughout the day for shoppers.  Information can be found on each store’s Facebook page.
